The market for hybrid cameras has grown in recent years. Led by Olympus and Panasonic with their Micro Four Thirds technology, various hybrid models have hit the market, even though the two largest camera manufacturers – Canon and Nikon – still seem to wait.
Samsung NX-10 is a new mirror-less compact digital camera with interchangeable lenses.
Sony has launched its NEX-3 and NEX-5, Olympus its PEN E-PL1 and Panasonic its GF1. Samsung NX-10 is not as slim and compact as NEX-3, E-PL1 and GF1, but it is still smaller than a SLR camera and less bulky to carry around.
NX-10 has the same APS-C sensor which the SLR models shares. The image resolution is up to 14.6 megapixels and you can also record movie clips in HD. NX10 has a three-inch AMOLED display, which is based on a new power-efficient screen technology.
Samsung NX10 takes great pictures, especially at low ISO values. Both colors and the image sharpness are good. When you pass 800 ISO the images contain more noise.
The camera has well-marked buttons and a straightforward menu system which is very easy to use. The Smart Auto function automatically selects the best shooting mode.
NX-10 is a good compromise between size, price and quality.
