Canon EOS 550D vs. Canon EOS 500D

Canon EOS 500D (Rebel T1i) vs. Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T2i)

The Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T2i) came only one year after the launch of EOS 500D (Rebel T1i). What are the major differences between the two cameras?

The EOS 550D (T2i) got more megapixels, better movie functionality and an improved LCD screen.

Canon has increased the resolution from 15 megapixels with the EOS 500D (T1i) to class-leading 18 megapixels for the EOS 550D (T2i).

The movie mode is also improved and EOS 550D (T2i) offers full HD 1.080p at up to 30 frames per second. The camera has the possibility of recording with frame rates on 30, 25 or 24 fps, in addition to 720p video at 60 and 50 fps. This is a clear improvement from the EOS 500D (T1i), where the recording is limited to 20 fps (1080p).

The LCD screen got higher resolution on the EOS 550D (T2i). It is increased from 920,000 dots to 1,040,000 dots. Also, the camera buttons have been redesigned.
